President: Charlotte Sidwell

Treasurer: Catherine Hayes

September 2010 – Semi-Toned founded.

Freshers Edward Henley and Jonathan Minter arrive at the university, both intent on starting an all-male a cappella group. As fate would have it, they met at the A Cappella taster session and after sizing each other up, agreed to start up a group. They then met Simon Eaton a few weeks later at a University Singers rehearsal and got him on board. They then found their fourth founding member when Sean Li replied to an advert Jonathan Minter put out at the Freshers Fair. And so the quartet began, originally singing barbershop quartet. Jack Telfer-St-Claire joined later in January 2011, making it a quintet complete with beatboxing!

October 2010 – Take Note founded.

After noticing a gap in the society and the exclusive nature of auditioned groups, President Charlotte Sidwell and Treasurer Catherine Hayes created the first non-auditioned group to make the society more open and accessible.

March 2011 – A Cappella spring showcase

Kay House finally opens and the A Cappella Society jump at the chance to perform in the new space. The first joint performance with all 5 groups, including debut performances of Semi-Toned and Take Note.
